Located on the site of a former mountain shelter, the project reinterprets the alpine refuge within the landscape of Kok-Zhailau. Positioned along a hiking trail south of Almaty, the cabin is conceived as a quiet pause in nature. The design integrates gently into the mountain environment while offering hikers a sheltered place to rest. Large openings frame views of the surrounding valley.

The architectural volumes
The building is composed of three compact volumes stepping down the slope, following the natural topography and limiting ground intervention. A dark green timber façade allows the cabin to blend into the landscape.

Inside, the cabin is designed with simple and warm materials that create a comfortable atmosphere for hikers. Wooden surfaces and soft natural light give the interior a calm and welcoming character. Large openings frame the surrounding mountains and offer places to sit, rest, and enjoy the landscape.
